Paul Hastings’ European projects chief defects to Hunton’s City base

Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker’s European projects head is leaving the firm to join the City office of US outfit Hunton & Williams.

Jonathan Simpson is the eighth partner to join Hunton’s international energy and infrastructure finance practice in the last year, and the fourth from Paul Hastings. Jeff Schroeder, Larry Skinner and Ellis Butler, who all trained at Hunton, rejoined the firm in May 2010 (20 May 2010).

Simpson has advised governments, multinational sponsors and financial institutions in project development and project finance transactions across the globe. Most recently, he acted on the $15 billion Southstream Gas Pipeline Project and advised the Republic of Srpska on its €3.5bn concession motorway programme.

Commenting on the appointment, Hunton managing partner Wally Martinez said: “His experience complements the capabilities of our London office and his addition continues one of our strategic focuses in London in energy and infrastructure.”

Simpson added: “Hunton & Williams is a global leader in energy and infrastructure, with a practice that is driven by excellence. I feel truly privileged to be able to join Hunton & Williams and to be able to assist with the continued development of their practice in London and in key emerging markets.”
