Norton Rose keeps a secret

There are some things you want to keep quiet about: spider phobias, childhood secrets, being a closet Millwall fan.

Getting elected as chief executive of one of the biggest law firms in the world surely isn’t one of them.

Nonetheless, that’s exactly what Peter Martyr appears to have done (see story). The Norton Rose global CEO was voted in for another term at the helm in July, but has kept the fact shielded from the outside world ever since.

Even Martyr would admit that winning wasn’t such a massive coup – he was elected unopposed, after all – but it’s really nothing to be ashamed of. Why the tight lips?

He’s now been in the job since 2002 and has practically achieved world domination through a number of tie-ups in Canada, South Africa and Australia. Norton Rose, funnily enough, is less keen to keep shtum about these achievements.
