Norton Rose hires from Hogan Lovells amid fluid Paris jobs market

Norton Rose has boosted its French corporate offering with the hire of Hogan Lovells partner Bénédicte Denis.

Denis joined the firm on 1 June along with of counsel Orsolya Hegedus, who moves to Norton Rose from Gide Loyrette Nouel.

The hire follows Norton Rose’s appointment of Hogan Lovells corporate partner Jon Harry last year (2 June 2011).

Meanwhile, Shearman & Sterling has turned to US rival Latham & Watkins for corporate partner Nicolas Bombrun. Bombrun was previously a partner at Latham for over a decade.

Shearman’s Paris managing partner Emmanuel Gaillard said the firm had been “actively expanding” its Paris M&A practice in the last year, with moves including the promotion of Guillaume Isautier and the recent relocation of the firm’s former co-managing partner John Madden to France.

At Baker & McKenzie, the firm’s partnership has also looked to its corporate practice for the election of Eric Lasry as managing partner of the Paris office. Lasry will take over from Régis Fabre on 1 July for an initial two-year term. Fabre has held the role since 2008.

Lasry previously managed Baker & McKenzie’s Paris office between 1999 and 2003.
