Macfarlanes has named Charles Meek as its new head of corporate, replacing Kevin Tufnell who has completed three years in the job.
Meek, who will also continue in his role as private equity chief at the City firm, began his three-year term on 1 May.
Macfarlanes’ corporate team was expanded last year after it subsumed some parts of the now disbanded property group. However, no new corporate partners were among the four promoted to the partnership last month.
The real estate practice was re-organised last September into sub-departments sitting within the corporate, litigation and private client teams. Early this year, partners Ian Ginbey and Richard Reuben departed for Clyde & Co and Fladgate respectively (4 March 2011).
Tufnell, who has been a partner at Macfarlanes for more than 20 years, will return to full-time fee earning. His clients include the likes of Montagu Private Equity and Phoenix Equity Partners.
