Nabarro and LG have both made up three partners this year, a fall from the five apiece promoted at the firms last year.

Two of those promoted at Nabarro are based in London and one in Sheffield. They are real estate dispute resolution lawyer Nick Lloyd and construction and engineering lawyer Emerson Holmes in London and environmental lawyer Lukas Rootman in Sheffield.
LG is to make up two partners to corporate and one to private capital – all of them based in London and two of whom are women. They are Karima Hudson and John Reed in corporate and Alex Ruffel in private capital.
Nabarro senior partner Simon Johnston said of the firm’s promotions: “These promotions continue our strategy of developing Nabarro’s specialist practice strengths through a combination of lateral hires and organic growth from within the firm.
“They’ve each shown skill, discipline and determination in developing their practice areas and client relationships and, I have no doubt, will make great additions to our expanding partnership and to the realisation of our strategic business objectives. “
Holmes qualified as a barrister at Keating Chambers, worked internationally as a construction disputes lawyer and joined Nabarro in 2007. He is due to requalify as a solicitor at the end of May, at which point he will become a partner. He has acted for a number of the firm’s major clients such as Multiplex/Brookfield on aspects of the Wembley stadium litigation.
Lloyd acts on high value and complex contractual disputes, lease renewals, redevelopments and Land Tribunal compensation claims. Rootman initially qualified as a criminal lawyer in South Africa and joined Nabarro in 2005. He has represented major clients of the firm in contentious and non-contentious regulatory matters, including Brentagg, Balfour Beatty Utilities, UK Coal, Veolia, Lafarge and Grosvenor.
Last year Nabarro made up five new partners across its employment, real estate and tax practices (3 April 2008).
At LG, Hudson specialises in M&A, joint ventures and other collaborative business ventures and leads LG’s healthcare practice. Reed works in general corporate law and focuses on investment funds. Ruffel works in international succession, structuring for UK non-domiciliaries, trust and estate planning for UK individuals and UK immigration and citizenship for non-UK nationals.
The five promotions at LG last year was the highest total number at the firm in four years, with partners joining corporate, private client and real estate in London (21 April 2008).
