Italian independent Labruna Mazziotti Segni has strengthened its antitrust team with hires from Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom and Bonelli Erede Pappalardo.
Barry Hawk, who retired from Skadden’s partnership last year, joins Labruna Mazziotti as a senior counsel alongside former Bonelli of counsel Renato Nazzini, who becomes a partner.
Both Hawk and Nazzini are recognised academics in the competition field. Hawk is director of the Fordham Competition Law Institute, and has also taught at law schools in the US, Australia and France.
Nazzini is a reader in law at the University of Southampton and before joining Bonelli was deputy director at the UK’s Office of Fair Trading.
The duo will be based in Rome and Milan. The firm said associates would also be recruited to the team.
