The Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) has named Apple Retail’s European legal chief Elaine Hutton as its new head of legal.
Hutton, who trained at Clifford Chance before moving in-house to work for Channel 4 and FremantleMedia as well as Apple, will lead a team of four in the IPA legal team.
She replaces Marina Palomba in the top job at IPA. Palomba left last year to join Reed Smith’s TMT team as partner.
Hutton said: “This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of the advertising sector and I believe the broad commercial and regulatory experience I’ve gained working for leading brands has given me the legal, leadership, commercial and relationship-building skills needed to make an outstanding contribution as part of the IPA team.”
IPA director general Hamish Pringle added: “We’re delighted that we’ve found a person with Elaine’s outstanding experience and abilities and we’re looking forward to her leadership of the legal department, her representation of the IPA within other key industry bodies and of course her participation in the management of the IPA.
“I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Brinsley Dresden and his team at
Lewis Silkin for doing such a good job in providing our interim legal service.”
