Hunton names UK privacy head as City chief

Hunton & Williams has appointed UK privacy and information management head Bridget Treacy as its London managing partner.

Treacy takes over from Martin Thomas, who was named managing partner in 2005, only four months after joining from legacy firm Hammonds (9 June 2005). Thomas will continue to practise in the firm’sinternational corporate and capital markets practices.

Treacy joined Hunton & Williams in 2005 from Barlow Lyde & Gilbert, where she was a partner for nine years. She advises on domestic and international data protection issues, information governance and e-commerce issues.

Commenting on her appointment, Hunton & Williams managing partner Wally Martinez said:  “She has a sterling reputation and strong relationships with many of our key clients. We applaud Martin’s role in building the firm’s reputation and presence in London.

“Bridget will guide the firm’s strategic initiatives in London, which will focus primarily on leveraging three of the firm’s core global strengths in energy and infrastructure transactions, privacy and data security, and corporate and finance.”
