Howrey exodus continues as Brussels partner defects to Covington

Howrey competition specialist Damien Geradin has become the latest partner to leave the firm after joining the Brussels office of US outfit Covington & Burling.

Geradin joins the firm as a partner in its global antitrust and competition practice, focusing on competition and IP matters. Previous clients have included Microsoft and telecoms company Qualcomm.

Covington’s EU competition head David Hull said: “Damien’s practice and  his expertise at the interface of IP and competition issues is a terrific fit with our client base and complements many of our existing capabilities.”

Geradin added: “I believe that Covington’s focus on  client service coupled with the firm’s terrific track record and commitment to building a premier global antitrust practice create a unique proposition for clients and look forward to being a part of the team.”
As reported on last week, Howreys’s partnership has been hit by a wave of defections over the last year (14 December 2010). More than 60 partners have left across the firm’s office in the US and Europe.
