Hogan Lovells increases trainee pay scales

Hogan Lovells is upping trainee salary bands by £1,000 and allowing junior lawyers to gain a larger pay increase by progressing to the next pay level.

In addition, the firm is increasing its newly qualified salary by £1,000, from £60,000 to £61,000.

The pay level for first-year trainees has gone up from £37,000 to £38,000, with second year trainee salaries up to £43,000 from £42,000.

Last week magic circle firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer also announced a marginal increase in newly qualified salaries from £60,000 to £61,500 (19 May 2011).

Allen & Overy and Linklaters have both frozen bands at 2010-11 levels for the new financial year but will also allow lawyers to pass through the bands as before (16 May 2011).
