Herbies boosts London finance with Linklaters dual hire

Herbert Smith has hired two lawyers from Linklaters to bolster its energy and project finance team.

Martin Kavanagh and Matthew Job, who were both counsel at their former firm, will join the London office as partners this summer.

Head of finance Jason Fox commented: “The energy sector has been relatively unaffected by the recession; indeed energy and power finance account for a growing share of global lending. The recruitment of lawyers of the calibre of Martin and Matthew adds considerably to our client offering in this area, adding further skill-sets to our market-leading energy practice.”

Kavanagh is an energy finance specialist with experience working on transactions in Africa and contributes to the firm’s 25-partner Africa practice.

Job advises on financing structures in the UK and European energy and infrastructure sectors, including syndicated loans, project bonds, leveraged finance, commodity hedging and structured finance.
This comes after Herbert Smith hired Linklaters’ first solely US-qualified partner, US securities specialist Steve Thierbach (11 March 2010).
