Herbert Smith has appointed a new Middle East head after the incumbent stepped down after five years in the role.
Dubai-based corporate partner Zubair Mir will become head of Herbert Smith’s Middle East practice on 1 March 2012. He takes over from Neil Brimson, who has been in the role for five years and steps down to manage the firm’s new Doha office (4 August 2011), while maintaining his involvement with the regional energy and infrastructure practice.
Herbert Smith’s global practice heads and the regional chief operating officer, Rob Brooks, will assist Mir in his management role.
Mir helped found Herbert Smith’s Middle East practice, along with Brimson and Nadim Khan, in 2007 (27 April 2007).
In a statement, Herbert Smith senior partner Jonathan Scott said: “I’d like to put on record my appreciation for the critical role Neil has played in the development of our Middle East practice, and to extend my congratulations and best wishes to Zubair.”
