Gateley has posted an 18.7 per cent increase in turnover for the 2010-11 financial year and made up two new partners in its annual round of promotions.
The firm’s turnover for the 2010-11 financial year was £58.9m, up from £49.6m in 2009-10.
Real estate lawyers Colin Gittus and Andrew Mellor have been promoted to partner. Gittus is based in Leicester and Mellor is based in Birmingham.
In addition to the two new partners, 18 trainees have been made up to associate, five lawyers were made senior solicitor and there were seven promotions to senior associate.
In 2010 Gateley (then HBJ Gateley Wareing), along with Barlow Lyde & Gilbert took over the majority of failed firm Halliwells’ assets, including 463 members of staff (21 July 2010).
As part of that deal the firm took on Halliwells’ banking and finance, corporate, real estate, real estate litigation, corporate recovery, commercial litigation, intellectual property, employment, pensions and construction teams. It moved into Halliwells’ Spinningfields office in Manchester, with Halliwells partner Rod Waldie taking over management of the office.
