The figure is a rise on the £49.6m it brought in during the same period last year.

It follows an impressive upturn for the City firm, which announced a 16 per cent revenue increase for the 2010-11 financial year (11 May 2011). The revenue hike saw the firm beat the £100m mark for the first time.

Chief executive Sharon White said: “We’re pleased with our results at the half way stage given the challenging trading conditions.”

The last year has seen the firm move into a new office (22 October 2010) and make a number of City hires, including corporate and energy partner Andrew McLean from Weil Gotshal & Manges (13 July 2011) and employee incentives partner Barbara Allen from Ashurst (26 September 2011).

It was hit by the loss of a role on the high-profile Ablyazov case, which is understood to have given the firm more than £20m in fees (19 September 2011).
