Corporate partner Rob Day led the SJ Berwin team acting for longstanding client Pantheon, a fund of funds manager operating in Europe, the US and Asia. Tax partner Dominic Adams, funds partner Duncan Woollard and financial markets partner Tamasin Little also acted on the deal.
Freshfields corporate partner Matthew Cosans fronted the team acting for AMG, alongside tax partner Colin Hargreaves and Hong Kong corporate partner Mark Kalderon.
Pantheon, which manages around $22bn of assets worldwide, is being sold by Russell Investments, which has turned to US firm Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom.
Day said: “It was very satisfying to assist our longstanding clients at Pantheon on a transaction of such strategic significance.”
The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2010, subject to regulatory approval.
