Field Fisher Waterhouse will promote four new partners this year, the same number as were promoted internally in 2008.

As with last year, the new partners are all based in London and are drawn from four distinct practice areas.

Field Fisher Waterhouse managing partner Moira Gilmour said: “I am delighted to welcome these four talented lawyers to the partnership.  We are committed to the development of our assistants and the promotion of home-grown talent is key to our long-term plans for growth.

“In a tough economic environment they have all put in strong performances and I would like to congratulate them on their success.”

The latest additions bring the total number of partners at the firm to 132. They follow an additional 17 lateral hires across its four European offices over the last year.

The promotions mark the first year anniversary since Field Fisher overhauled its partnership structure. The firm created the rank of fixed share partners, adding this band to junior and full equity partners.

Half of the new partners are women. They will all be joining the firm from 1st May 2009. They are:

Oliver Abel Smith (Commercial & Finance)

Sam Critchley (Personal Injury & Medical Negligence)

Joe Payne (Property Litigation)

Rebecca Swindells  (IP Dispute Resolution).
