DLA promotes three in London, 41 across the globe

Last year the firm made up 53 globally, while in 2008 it made up a total of 69 partners. This year nine promotions were made across the UK, while the rest were made up into offices in the US, continental Europe and Asia.

Of the three partners who were made up in the London office, two are in the litigation and regulatory group, which was the single-largest beneficiary of all global divisions with 18 promotions in total.

This year a third of all new partners – or 13 lawyers – are women.

“I’m very proud of our new partner class and I congratulate them on all that they have achieved during their careers at DLA Piper,” said the firm’s chairman Francis Burch. “This class, which spans 13 countries and includes lawyers from all our major practice groups, truly reflects the diversity and uniqueness of our global platform.

“These men and women are the future of DLA Piper, and we welcome them to the partnership.”

The firm’s joint CEO Nigel Knowles (pictured) commented: “We’ve faced a difficult year like the rest of the legal sector, adjusting to quieter markets where the economic downturn has hit hardest, but we remain focused onrecognising and rewarding outstanding talent across our ranks.

“These lawyers have been chosen for their contributions to DLA Piper and potential to help drive us into a new period of growth.”

In addition to the new partners the firm has promoted 23 lawyers to legal director and 91 to the role of associate.
