DLA misses out as Virgin revamps advisory panel

Eight firms have been appointed to the list with Bird & Bird and Burges Salmon admitted as new joiners.

Group legal director Ian Woods said: “We’re looking forward to building a relationship with Bird & Bird and Burges Salmon, both of which we believe have a lot to offer our group across a variety of different specialisms.”

He added: “The areas in respect of which DLA Piper has been advising us are comparatively narrow. We’d like to thank DLA Piper for all the hard work they’ve put into advising the group over the years.”

The panel comprises Allen & Overy, Bird & Bird, Bond Pearce, Burges Salmon, Denton Wilde Sapte, Harbottle & Lewis, Herbert Smith and Macfarlanes.

Denton Wilde Sapte recently advised Virgin Money on its first venture into the banking sector through its offer to buy private bank Church House Trust, which was advised by TLT Solicitors (8 January 2010).
