Clifford Chance unveils new-look partnership council

Clifford Chance has unveiled its slimmed down partnership council, with four new members taking their place alongside senior partner Stuart Popham and re-elected members Joeroen Koster and Thomas Schulte.

The new members, who will serve terms of three years, are Katherine Coates and Simon Davis from the firm’s London HQ, Martin Rogers from Hong Kong and Daniela Weber-Rey from the Frankfurt office.

Koster and Schulte, based in Amsterdam and New York respectively, will continue to serve on the council for a further two years.

Clifford Chance has reduced the council from 12 to seven members as part of managing partner David Childs’ efforts to streamline what was seen as an unwieldly management structure (8 March 2010).

Among the nine partners to leave their positions are three of the four elected in 2008 – Esther Cavett, Andrew Forryan, and Alex Panayides (11 January 2008).

Popham said: “I know that each of the newly elected members, together with the two continuing members, will bring a great deal of energy and commitment to the partnership council and I look forward to working with them.

“On behalf of the firm I’d like to thank the outgoing council members for all their hard work over the past few years – it’s been greatly appreciated.”

The partnership council, chaired by Popham (pictured), acts as a supervisory board for the firm and has traditionally had a multi-jurisdictional composition.
