BPP Law School has made three full-time Bar Vocational Course (BVC) lecturers redundant following a slump in the number of students enrolling.
The law school, one of the biggest BVC providers in the country, confirmed that it was in consultation with 11 of its BVC tutors in December last year.
The provider, which is owned by BPP Holdings, saw a 17 per cent drop in the number of students enrolling on the BVC, with just 247 students taking up a spot this year compared with 300 the previous year.
Last year BPP charged would-be barristers £14,150 to study the BVC but this year it has upped that figure by 3 per cent to £14,700.
BPP arch rival the College of Law confirmed that it has also seen a drop in the demand for BVC places this year but has currently ruled out a headcount reduction.
The job cuts come after research found the number of graduates invited to take pupillage has dropped by 20 per cent since 2000, with less than a third of graduates securing pupillages last year.
BPP declined to comment.
