Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has cut 85 jobs at the end of a redundancy consultation that got underway in May.
The firm made 47 compulsory redundancies, while 32 took voluntary redundancy and six employees have taken early retirement.
BLP declined to comment on the number of lawyers who lost their jobs as part of the review, although 30 lawyers and 55 support staff, 25 of whom were secretaries, were initially targeted as part of the programme (5 May 2009).
Before making these redundancies the firm carried out a review of its partnership that led to the change of status of a number of partners.
BLP operates a modified lockstep in which 20 per cent of total remuneration is based upon performance. The firm has yet to announce profit and turnover figures for the 2008-09 financial year.
