Berlin bowls them over

Currywurst and Bitburger might not have been on the menu but there was still a decidedly local feel to The Lawyer’s second European Awards, which took place in Berlin last night.

If there was one message to take away from the glittering ceremony and Law Leaders conference it was think global, act local (see story).

During the day’s conference lively debates sparked up everywhere around the hotel on subjects as diverse as macro-economics and referral strategies. In the evening an orgy of networking was unleashed as lawyers from Portugal to Sweden swapped business cards and gossip.

Those lawyers spotted even later last night wandering Berlin’s streets were only doing so to gain even more local knowledge. Probably.

In total, Berlin’s Hotel Adlon played host to more than 250 lawyers from the Continent’s top firms, there to celebrate Europe’s star performers.

Salans walked away with the top award of European Law Firm of the Year while Manuel Martin of Gomez-Acebo & Pombo scooped the managing partner trophy.

Congratulations to all the winners, near or far.
