Fox, who has been a partner at Ashurst since 2000, is understood to have already resigned from the Ashurst partnership. It is not yet known when he will join the magic circle firm.

This is the second defection from Ashurst to Clifford Chance this year. In February Alan Kitchin, the founder of Ashurst’s Tokyo office, joined Clifford Chance to head its corporate and projects practice in the Japanese capital (17 February 2010).

Fox, who was managing partner of Ashurst’s Madrid office from 2003 to 2007, specialises in all aspects of international corporate finance and M&A work.

Ashurst was unavailable for comment.
