Patten, who started his career at AAR’s Melbourne office, later worked in-house for Shell in London and Dubai and joined Ashurst in 2006, making partner in 2008. He was picked out as a star energy partner in The LawyerTransatlatic Elite 2011.

While in the City firm’s energy, transport and infrastructure team, the oil and gas specialist advised Jubilant Energy on its AIM IPO and, earlier this year, guided Centrica Energy through a £2bn deal with Qatargas that saw the longstanding client buy 2.4 million tonnes per year of liquified natural gas from the Qatari state-run supplier (2 May 2011).

Patten is one of 14 individuals to be added to AAR’s partnership this year, covering both internal appointments and lateral hires.

“Joining Allens is an opportunity to work in one of the most active energy markets in the world with a world-class energy and resources team,” Patten said.

AAR’s Perth practice leader Andrew Pascoe said: “We’ve undertaken a global recruitment campaign for top talent and Anthony’s quality and experience in the oil and gas sector will see us continue to grow one of the largest energy teams in the region.”
