As revealed by The Lawyer last month (26 October 2011), Angel is joining the firm on what is believed to be a £2m a year remuneration package.

He will serve as global co-chair alongside Frank Burch and will also hold the position of senior partner of the firm’s international LLP, which is the non-US side of the business.

In these positions Angel will work alongside Burch and the firm’s co-CEOs Nigel Knowles and Lee Miller on refining DLA Piper’s global strategy. Specifically, he has been tasked with improving financial performance and will also have a focus on recruitment and client development in EMEA and Asia Pacific.

In a statement Burch said: “As the architect behind one of the first modern, global law firms [Linklaters], Tony shares our strategic vision and brings unparalleled expertise and experience to DLA Piper,” he said.

Angel added: “It’s remarkable what DLA Piper has accomplished in such a short period of time. I look forward to building on my experiences and working closely with Frank, Nigel and Lee in helping DLA Piper reach the next phase of its growth and evolution.”
