The period for partners to put their name on the ballot to run against Devitt in the election opened before Christmas and closed yesterday (11 January). No one else put their name forward and so Devitt was today reelected as managing partner. His second three-year term will begin from 1 May 2012.

Devitt was first appointed as managing partner in 2009.

In a statement, Devitt said: “I’m very pleased to continue contributing as managing partner for another term. Over the last three years, despite the challenging economic and market conditions, we’ve made substantial progress in developing and improving our business across numerous fronts.

“As I said in November when announcing our half-year results, that continues to flow through in important client wins, improved panel positions and significant new assignments and has delivered a very good performance in the year to date.”

In the first six months of the 2011-12 financial year, Addleshaw’s turnover was up 11 per cent on the same period in 2010-11, to £86.6m (17 November 2011).

The term for senior partner at the firm, a post now held by Monica Burch, finishes at the end of April 2013. The period for partners to put their name on the ballot to run for senior partner will begin in December 2012.
