Vue Entertainment is creating a new UK head of legal role as the business looks to expand further across the UK and Ireland.

The UK and Ireland legal chief will act alongside group general counsel Euan Sutton, who joined the company at the start of the year.

Sutton is currently supported by just one interim lawyer, with the appointment expected to pave the way for future changes to and expansion of the legal team.

The new position has not yet been filled.

“Since the start of the year, I’ve been trying to get my feet under the desk, taking the time to understand the UK and Ireland market,” Sutton told The Lawyer.

“It became clear we needed another lawyer to support the UK and Ireland operation, which is the largest part of the Vue business,” he added. “The group is growing at a substantial rate so we need a dedicated head for these areas.”

The head of legal for UK and Ireland position will enable Sutton to focus on his responsibilities for the overall entertainment business.

Over the summer, Vue acquired JT Bioscopen, the second largest cinema chain in the Netherlands, bringing its total number of sites to over 200. It also acquired one of the biggest cinema chains in Italy at the end of last year.
