Olswang has boosted its technology and outsourcing offering with the hire of a technology partner each for its London and Singapore offices.
IT partner Ross McKean is joining the firm’s London office after 16 years with Baker & McKenzie in London. McKean handles a range of non-contentious and contentious IT, outsourcing, communications and telecoms projects.
Outsourcing specialist Ian Ferguson is set to join Olswang’s Singapore office after an initial period spent in London. Ferguson joins from Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, where he has been a partner since 2009. He previously spent 25 years at Allen & Overy, where he was head of the firm’s global communications, media and technology practice and co-head of the firm’s international outsourcing practice. During this time Ferguson acted for Twentieth Century Fox as it sealed a deal with Arts Alliance Media, which was represented by Olswang technology partner Clive Gringas, to roll out a digital cinema in Europe (17 March 2008).
The latest appointments follow the hire of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer green technology and renewables partner Martin Hamer for the firm’s Munich office in May.
Commenting on the appointments, Olswang CEO David Stewart said: “Growing our international technology and sourcing practice is key to ensuring that we’re true business partners who continually build our team to reflect clients’ needs. Ian’s substantial experience will support our Asian base, which is essential to servicing our TMT clients in the region and will become increasingly central to the continuation of our sector focus strategy, and Ross’s arrival will give new senior leadership to our European data protection practice.”
