Wood Group has started a search for a new general counsel and company secretary to replace outgoing legal head Robbie Brown.

Brown is due to leave the energy services company at the end of this year, having replaced former GC Ian Johnson five years ago.

A spokesperson said he is “currently reviewing his options to consider the next stage of his career” and will continue to serve as chairman of trustees of the group’s retirement benefit scheme.

Prior to joining Wood Group in Aberdeen, Brown was a corporate partner at Edinburgh-based Maclay Murray & Spens.

He trained at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London and also worked for Allens Arthur Robinson legacy firm Arthur Robinson & Hedderwicks in Melbourne until 2000.

He has additionally served as European vice-chair of cross-border transactions for global network Lex Mundi.

At London-listed Wood Group, Brown worked alongside chief compliance officer Elaine Mays, who joined from oilfield services company Baker Hughes in 2012.

Wood Group said a process is now underway to find a successor for Brown.
