White & Case has increased the number of partners promoted in London to eight, while announcing a slightly reduced global round of 31 partners, effective at the start of 2016.

Out of the eight City promotions, two come in White & Case’s global M&A practice, with Victoria Landsbert and Emma Parr both promoted. Carina Radford and Ben Wilkinson also become partners in the project finance and banking groups respectively.

The global commercial litigation practice has been boosted by two new partners, Edward Attenborough and Rory Hishon, while London-based Clare Connellan has become a partner in the international arbitration group.

Fellow arbitration specialist Julian Bailey, who currently works in London, has additionally been promoted but is due to relocate to Doha.

This year’s promotions round is smaller than last year’s total at 37, but more partners have been promoted in London this year. In 2014, just one of the five City-based lawyers promoted were also female, but this year’s gender split was 50/50 in the UK capital.

The largest number of 2015 promotions come in Europe, Middle East and Africa, with 19 partners being made up across Astana, Brussels, Frankfurt, Hamburg, London, Paris, Prague, Riyadh, and Stockholm.

The remaining partners were promoted in the Americas, while one was made up in Tokyo’s M&A practice.

Across the world, the M&A practice saw the most number of promotions, with the firm’s project finance and commercial litigation groups also benefitting from a wave of new partners.
