The risks of posting inappropriate comments on Facebook have been well-documented in the press, but now it seems unfriending a colleague could be an issue for the HR department. Last week the Australian Fair Work Commission decided that unfriending someone could be seen as evidence of bullying at work.  

Gateley discusses similar social media-related incidents in the UK, including a case where a newly promoted supervisor unfriended her colleagues. In this instance she was  bullied and her computer background changed to a picture of a witch. Cases like this may become more common if Facebook releases its controversial ‘dislike’ button.
