With Halloween just behind us it seems only apt to discuss the terrifying possibility that lawyers may soon be replaced by machines. Artificial intelligence (AI) has become the next big technology law firms are looking to use but could it really replace lawyers?

Totum believes that in reality there is little chance that lawyers will be replaced by computers. The changes include the announcement of a new Living Wage for those over 25, which comes into force next April. Collas Crill notes the cometh of the Channel Island Financial Ombudsman (CIFO). The ombudsman opens on 16 November and is a joint initiative between Jersey and Guernsey. The scheme will be free for complainants and will be funded by financial service business but will only cover complaints made about financial services in Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney and Sark.
