No5 Chambers’ barristers John Butterfield QC and Phil Bradley have defended in a trial of an unlawful killing of a man who jumped out of a moving car.
Ross Gill, 24 from Tamworth, pleaded guilty to unlawfully killing Jason Grice on May 3 this year after Mr Grice jumped out of a moving car during a row over drug equipment.
John Butterfield QC defended Gill and Phil Bradley defended co-accused, Carl Villiers, aged 25, of Sorrel, Amington, who was acquitted of charges of manslaughter and kidnap after the prosecution at Stafford crown court offered no evidence
Gill and Grice became embroiled in a row after Grice, a drug addict, was unable to return the drug cultivation equipment, which Gill had entrusted to him. During the group’s car journey Grice made a phone call pleading for help after receiving threats from Gill.
