Funds placement and secondaries advisory business Campbell Lutyens has appointed Clifford Chance associate Michael Lampshire to its in-house team as regulation hits the industry.
Lampshire joins Campbell Lutyens’ general counsel Penny Walker, who has headed up the company’s legal function since 2010.
The hire is intended to help Campbell Lutyens address the growing regulatory focus within the alternative funds sector, as well as increasing complexity in the transactional space.
Walker said: “The recent introduction of the alternative investment fund managers directive in Europe is generating considerable additional workload on managers and their advisers from fundraising planning stage through to annual reporting to regulators as well as in secondary transactions. Europe’s most recent response to funds regulation is in addition to a number of significant regulatory measures taken globally which impact fund raising as well as the secondary market for GPs, LPs [general partners and limited partners] and other investors in private equity and infrastructure.”
Campbell Lutyens’ managing partner Andrew Sealey added that the business’s legal and regulatory capabilities differentiated it from its competitors.
