Ajay Khandhar from Minter Ellison wins Law Council of Australia young lawyer award

Ajay Khandhar, a lawyer in Minter Ellison’s human resources and industrial relations team, has been awarded the 2013 Australian Young Lawyer Award for Organisation by the Law Council of Australia.

As executive councillor of NSW Young Lawyers, Khandhar is responsible for community and social projects, working with school students to promote social justice issues and inspiring them to become leaders.

In May 2013, he organised the Law and Justice Leadership Conference held at Parliament House in Sydney, which was attended by more than 90 students and featured presentations from UNICEF Australia and former High Court judge Michael Kirby.

His passion for educating young people and promoting access to justice were key to him winning the Law Council’s top prize.

Khandhar is currently working on organising another conference for gifted students, scheduled for October.

He was also recognised as one of Lawyers Weekly’s ‘30 Under 30’ young lawyers earlier this year.
