Weil Gotshal & Manges is hiring Linklaters finance partner Olivier Jauffret, just weeks after losing finance head Emmanuel Ringeval to Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
The Lawyer understands that Jauffret is to join the US firm as a partner, alongside Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer finance of counsel James Clarke. Clarke will become a partner at Weil, having worked in Freshfields’ London, Paris and Brussels offices in the past.
Jauffret has worked at Linklaters since 1994 and became a partner in 2002. He specialises in financing work, including LBOs, acquisitions, property financing and syndicated loans.
Clarke focuses on leveraged finance.
Freshfields announced in early September it was hiring Weil’s Paris finance head Ringeval (10 September 2012) along with a team of associates. However the US firm has been fairly acquisitive in Paris over the past two years, hiring Gide Loyrette Nouel funds specialist David Malamed in December (16 December 2011) and Willkie Farr & Gallagher corporate star Laurent Faugérolas in January 2011 (31 January 2011).
Weil currently has 16 partners in Paris, predominantly focusing on corporate work.
Weil’s French senior partner Claude Serra declined to comment. Linklaters’ Paris managing partner Paul Lignières also declined to comment.
