Ashurst corporate chief Stephen Lloyd resigns

Ashurst global corporate head Stephen Lloyd has resigned from the firm’s partnership.

Lloyd has held the post of corporate head at the firm since the role was first established in July 2010 as part of a wider corporate revamp. Prior to that, he was Ashurst’s London head of corporate.

In July, Lloyd was appointed as co-head of the recently merged firm’s corporate, commercial and competition team alongside Sydney-based Phil Breden.

The news comes in the wake of a number of management changes at Ashurst as it continues its post-merger integration effort. Litigation partner Ben Tidswell took up the firm’s newly established chairman role in a shock victory over the firm’s former senior partner Charlie Geffen in October (16 October 2013).

Shortly after, partners voted Sydney-based partner Mary Padbury into the firm’s vice chair position, before electing the rest of its new global management board.

The 14-member board consists of four legacy Ashurst partners : London-based corporate partner Simon Beddow and City banking partner Mark Vickers, real estate partner Cristina Calvo in Madrid and corporate partner Reinhard Eyring in Frankfurt.

The board’s three legacy Ashurst Australia partners are Perth-based corporate partner Roger Davies, Sydney-based corporate partner Ian Williams and competition partner Peter Armitage.

An Ashurst spokesman said: “Stephen has made a considerable contribution to the Corporate Practice and the firm. He is a talented lawyer and we will be sorry to see him go but we wish him the very best for the future.”
