Allan, Sophie

Sophie Allan undertakes all aspects of personal injury work, including employer and public liability and road traffic accident litigation.

She has a particular interest in industrial disease work and acts for both claimants and defendants in claims involving hand-arm vibration syndrome, noise-induced hearing loss and all types of asbestos-related disease, including receiving regular instructions in cases involving mesothelioma. She also has experience of more atypical ‘disease’ claims, including occupational asthma, dermatitis and carbon-monoxide poisoning. She was second junior counsel for the defendants in the Pleural Plaques litigation in both the Court of Appeal and House of Lords.

Allan also has an interest in and experience of claims arising out of military service. In particular, she was instructed as second junior counsel (to Michael Rawlinson) on behalf of a number of the families and dependents of those killed in Nimrod XV230 in respect of the coroner’s inquest into their deaths.

She acts for both claimants and defendants and is happy to undertake work on a CFA basis. She also undertakes CPD-accredited training seminars.
