Integreon opens City review centre as trend for onshore LPOs advances

Legal process outsourcer (LPO) Integreon is to open a legal document review centre in its London office as the trend for onshore LPOs continues to pick up.

The service, which will be based in Integreon’s and CMS’s existing City base, will be the second UK LPO facility the outsourcer has launched this year following a Bristol opening in January.

The London office currently supports the entire business support function of CMS following a £600m agreement in 2010. However, a spokesperson said the office will now have space for 100 extra staff to carry out LPO services such as managed review and technology consulting following “client interest in the UK for onshore legal outsourcing services”.

This year’s The Lawyer UK 200 survey found that only 23 per cent of private practice respondents said their firm offered any sort of LPO, whether offshore or onshore. However, an increasing number of London-based companies have voiced plans to outsource legal work in the UK. The legal team at BT Global, for example, piloted an outsourcing programme ‘with a new entrant’ in the UK last month (22 October 2012).

In a statemen,t Juliet Hanna, head of document review services at Integreon, said: “The opening of our London facility is timely, since many UK organisations are preparing for the April 2013 implementation of new rules on disclosure as part of the Jackson Reforms. Discovery costs will be subject to closer scrutiny by the courts and we’re very pleased to be able to offer a lower cost option for managed review right on the doorstep of most of our UK clients.”
