Gibson Dunn & Crutcher has promoted one lawyer to its partnership in London among a US-centric round of 11.
Dispute resolution associate Osma Rajah, the only Europe-based lawyer to be promoted from this round, will become a partner at the firm in January. She specialises in international arbitration and large scale international regulatory inquiries with related compliance issues. The remaining 10 promotions came from the US firm’s offices across America, spanning Washington DC, New York, Orange County and Los Angeles.
Headcount at Gibson Dunn stayed effectively static last year, with the addition of just 10 lawyers, while the number of equity partners dropped by three.
However, the firm posted record financial results for 2011, with revenue up by 9.7 per cent to $1.17bn (£738m), average profit per equity partner up 7.2 per cent to $2.47m (£1.56m) and revenue per lawyer up 8.2 per cent to $1.2m (£706,000) (20 February 2012).
The firm has been involved in a number of high-profile mandates in the past few years, defending Facebook in a high-profile spat over ownership and acting as primary deal counsel in both the US and the UK on Hewlett-Packard’s (HP) £7bn acquisition of UK software company Autonomy (19th August 2011).
