Cleary promotes London trio in global promos round

Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton has promoted two London-based lawyers to its partnership and one to counsel as part of a global promotions round that will see eight made up to partner and four to counsel.

The new partners in the London office are corporate and financial transactions lawyers Gabriele Antonazzo and Polina Lyadnova, while capital market transactions associate Sarah Lewis, who has worked at the firm since 2004, has been promoted to counsel.

Antonazzo joined the firm in 2000 and was based in the Rome office from 2000 to 2003 and from 2005 to 2006. Lyadnova joined the firm in 2007 and has previously worked at the firm’s Moscow office.

Cleary’s promotions round saw a further nine lawyers promoted across the US firm’s offices in Germany, America, Brussels, Paris and Abu Dhabi. The new partners include New York-based lawyers Luke Barefoot, Pamela Marcogliese and Elizabeth Lenas, Washington DC-based lawyers Patrick Bock and Paul Lawrence and Brussels-based François-Charles Laprévote. New counsel include Cologne-based Rüdiger Harms, Paris-based Emmanuel Ronco and Abu Dhabi-based Chris Macbeth, who has relocated from the firm’s London office.

The firm announced that it had opened in Abu Dhabi earlier this year (6 September 2012), marking Cleary’s first outpost on the ground in the Middle East.

Effective from January 2013 the elections bring the firm’s total worldwide partner count to 198 with 54 counsel.
