Slaughter and May has bumped up its salaries for trainees and associates.

First-year trainees will get £42,500, a rise of 3.7 per cent from £41,000. Second-years get a 3.3 per cent boost from $46,000 to £47,500.

NQ salaries have risen by 2 per cent, from £70,000 to £71,500. Pay for 1PQEs gets the biggest hike: a 4.6 per cent rise from £75,500 to £79,500.

2PQEs will get £90,250 (up 3.7 per cent) and 3PQEs will receive £99,750 (up 3.3 per cent).

Overall, the rises are smaller than the ones handed out by Slaughters last year. In 2015, the firm gave 2PQEs a 10 per cent pay rise, while 3 PQEs got an 8.4 per cent boost.
