Peverel Group names new head of legal

Property management company, Peverel Group, has appointed Nigel Hirst as head of legal and company secretary.

Hirst joins Peverel from mobile payments company, Luup, where he was chief legal officer and responsible for corporate governance, legal, compliance and risk management.

He succeeds David Edwards who has left to join non profit housing group, the Anchor Trust. Prior to working at Peverel Edwards headed the legal function De Vere Group.

Peverel’s chief executive Janet Entwistle said in a statement: “I am delighted to welcome Nigel. He has an excellent track record and brings valuable skills to the table which will no doubt strengthen our team.”

The Peverel Group went into administration in March 2011, shortly after owner Vincent Tchenguiz was arrested under suspicion of serious fraud, which was linked at the time to the collapse of Iceland’s Kaupthing bank. The SFO subsequently dropped the case (20 June 2012) and Tchenguiz instructed Debevoise & Plimpton partner Peter Goldsmith QC to lead a damages claim against the agency (28 February 2013).

Peverel was bought out of administration a year later by Chamonix Private Equity LLP and Electra Partners LLPin a £62m transaction.

Hirst has worked at a number of corporates, including Spendvision, Hogg Robinson PLC and IMG. He qualified at Norton Rose
