Linklaters shakes up international board with four new members

Linkaters has reshuffled its international board, with four partners voted onto the senior governance body including City capital markets specialist Paul Lewis.

Lewis has been elected as a representative of the finance and projects division to replace City partner Michael Kent, who has served for two three-year terms so was not eligible to be selected again.

Other new members are Düsseldorf corporate partner Klaus Hoenig, representing Germany, who takes over from Frankfurt banking partner Eva Reudelhuber, who was also not able to bid for a third term after serving six years.

Moscow senior partner and capital markets specialist Dmitry Dobatkin has been confirmed as the Eemea and Sweden representative after being co-opted onto the board last June following the retirement of Moscow partner John Goodwin.

Meanwhile, the Benelux representative role on the board has been taken by Antwerp corporate partner Jean-Pierre Blumberg, who has replaced Brussels-based global litigation and arbitration head Françoise Lefèvre. Lefèvre had a short stint in the oversight group, being co-opted on last autumn when incumbent Pieter Riemer stood down to become Western Europe managing partner and a member of the executive committee, a separate body (17 October 2012).

The sixteen-partner board, chaired by senior partner Robert Elliott, comprises representatives from seven regions or countries excluding the UK, including two for Germany, as well as an additional six City partners representing three London practice groups.

The new positions took effect on 1 May.

The international board is the firm’s most senior governance group, to which management is accountable. It also takes major decisions on behalf of the partnership.

Its make-up was last voted on a year ago, when senior City figures such as corporate partner Charlie Jacobs and banking partner David Ereira and Düsseldorf-based corporate specialist Ralph Wollburg were replaced by new names (22 May 2012).

Board members also appoint the executive committee, which comprises regional and practice heads and joint CFO and COO Peter Hickman and is chaired by global managing partner Simon Davies.
