Jay has been named in a trio of judicial appointments alongside 4 New Square’s Sue Carr QC and Judge Andrew Gilbart. All three join the Queen’s Bench Division.

Carr and Jay replace Mr Justices Stadlen and Evans respectively, both of whom are retiring. Meanwhile Gilbart replaces Mr Justice Fulford, who is moving up to the Court of Appeal (28 March 2013).

Jay was appointed as lead counsel to the Leveson Inquiry in 2011 (29 July 2011). He was widely praised for his work and was named Barrister of the Year at The Lawyer Awards 2012 (27 June 2012).

Meanwhile professional negligence specialist Carr was named head of chambers at 4 New Square in January 2012. She has appeared on a raft of high-profile cases, including this year’s battle between the Accountancy & Actuarial Discipline Board and accountancy firm Deloitte, one of The Lawyer’s top cases for 2013 (7 January 2013).
