Keating Chambers senior clerk Nick Child is leaving the set to join Navigant Consulting as managing director and head of global market development for the company’s global construction practice.
Child started work as a junior barristers’ clerk in 1988, spending his first three years with the chambers of J. Maurice Price QC in Lincoln’s Inn, a traditional chancery set, before moving to Keating Chambers, a set that focuses on construction law, in April 1992. He was appointed senior clerk in September 2005, handling all aspects of chambers’ practice management, client relationships and business development both internationally and domestically.
Child is also known as the founder of the Law Rocks legal market battle of the bands competition (22 March 2013), which has grown over the past four years from a single event in London’s the 100 Club to an international, multi-event charity fundraiser. Child confirmed he intended to continue with Law Rocks.
“Whilst chambers and I are sad to be parting company, we’re doing so as the very best of friends and with the fondest memories,” Child said.
Head of chambers at Keating Paul Darling QC said “Nick has been an effective and much valued senior clerk who leaves chambers in a very strong position, and we shall miss him very much. We congratulate him on his new job and look forward to our continued association.”
Child was also listed in The Lawyer’s Hot 100 2011, the annual publication that lists 100 of the most influential people in the law in the UK.
