3 Hare Court silk James Dingemans QC, who played a leading role in the launch of the Inner Temple’s diversity outreach scheme, is one of the three latest appointments to the High Court.
Dingemans has been appointed to the court to replace Mr Justice Underhill, who was elevated to the Court of Appeal earlier this year (28 March 2013).
He was named in The Lawyer’s Hot 100 this year (28 January 2013) for his work in launching the Pegasus Access Scheme for the Inner Temple.
The other two appointments announced today are 11KBW’s Clive Lewis QC and Frances Patterson QC, who is the commissioner responsible for public law at the Law Commission. Lewis replaces Mrs Justice Dobbs, who has retired, in the Queen’s Bench Division on 13 June. Patterson will replace Mr Justice Maddison in October following his retirement.
A public law and human rights specialist, Lewis has acted on a number of high-profile cases including an application for judicial review of GCSE English grades earlier this year (13 February 2013).
The appointments are the latest in a stream of new High Court judges this year. Most recently, Leveson Inquiry counsel Robert Jay QC joined the bench alongside 4 New Square’s Sue Carr QC and Judge Andrew Gilbart (8 May 2013).
