Dechert has pounced on Shearman & Sterling’s Brussels managing partner Hans Jürgen Meyer-Lindemann in a boost for its EU competition practice in both Belgium and Germany.
Meyer-Lindemann will split his time between Dechert’s Brussels and Frankfurt offices.
The news comes just a week after Shearman confirmed it was closing its Düsseldorf and Munich offices following a series of departures in Germany (23 April 2013).
For Dechert, the appointment follows the firm’s Frankfurt launch last year (17 January 2012). The firm bolstered the office in March with a partner hire from Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson (19 March 2012).
Meyer-Lindemann practices both German and EU competition law, advising on merger control cases before the European Commission and national competition authorities, major cartel investigations across a variety of industries, and litigation matters concerning both public and private enforcement before national and European courts.
He is qualified to practice in Germany and New York and speaks five European languages.
