Networking is always the main theme of MIPIM and day three, although the last, is no different.
This morning we welcomed representatives from the Urban Land Institute on board the Lalibela, to discuss a range of market initiatives and – importantly – to provide a cross border perspective on the international real estate sector. When you have representatives from over 89 countries and almost every continent, ensuring this diversity is reflected in the meetings at MIPIM is obviously paramount.
After lunch we welcomed on board representatives from the real estate sector in Russia. The property market in that region is doing well and this made for an enlightening meeting
Mid-afternoon made for more introductions on board. As well as introducing our international colleagues to different clients, it was also an opportunity for our clients to meet one another. There is no exact science to doing business at MIPIM and we find ourselves listening and being invited to different networking events too. Armed with our business cards we often boat-hop ourselves to meet clients and peers.
This evening will see the DLA Piper team venture into town to attend more receptions laid on by sponsors and participants. The event draws to a close tomorrow morning, and I look forward to returning to Australia to see my family.
MIPM 2016 was another success and the rendezvous goes from strength to strength. The global real estate community has a real passion for this event and networking with peers from across borders and regions can bring previously unforeseen possibilities.
