Greenberg Traurig Maher (GTM), the UK arm of US firm Greenberg Traurig, has posted a UK revenue increase of 10 per cent to £15.7m ($24m) for the 2015 calendar year.

The increase follows a dip in turnover between 2013 and 2014, with revenue declining 2 per cent from £14.5m to £14.2mm according to GTM’s LLP accounts.

Last year GTM’s London office advised on a number of significant matters including GKN on its acquisition of Fokker Technologies from Arle Capital for an enterprise value of €706m (£499m); Nomad Holdings in its €2.6bn acquisition of European frozen foods company Iglo Foods; and Rentokil Initial on its $425m acquisition of US pest control business the Steritech Group.

GTM’s chairman Paul Maher said that it had been a particularly good year for corporate and capital markets, adding that the London office had benefited from in-bound work in 2015, notably from the US and Poland.

“I think we really felt the momentum of the platform across the practice last year,” Maher added.

GTM hired three new partners last year, bringing in corporate and securities partners Dorothee Fischer-Appelt and Joel Wheeler from Sidley Austin and Crowell & Moring respectively, and litigation partner Gillian Sproul from Mayer Brown.

In total there were 38 qualified lawyers in GTM’s London office last year including 20 partners and 18 associates along with an additional 10 fee-earners.

Globally Greenberg Traurig’s revenue rose by 4 per cent to $1.32bn. Net profit stood at $448m while average profit per equity partner was $1.475m last year, a rise of 3.5 per cent.

The firm had a total of 3,619 staff including 2,118 fee-earners of whom 945 are partners and 864 are associates.

Greenberg is currently in merger talks with Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP). If the deal goes ahead it will create a 2,500-lawyer firm with nearly 750 lawyers in New York and London and a broadened platform across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and the Middle East.
